The story focuses on a woman named Connie Ross, who has been abused by her various ex-boyfriends and whose multiple miscarriages have left her unable to have children. Lonely and starved for love, she begins giving candy to the neighborhood children, who dub her "The Candy Lady." The children seem to fill a void in her life, but she soon grows mentally ill, Connie devises several plans so sinister and evil that it destroys the lives of those around her as well as her own.



Sheryl B. Clayton was born in Tuskegee, Alabama and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She now resides in Pike Road, Alabama where she enjoys life with her family and two children.
